A first-time powerball lottery player has won a $15 million prize after asking her friends how to play the game.
The unregistered winner, who had recently been working several jobs to support her family, claimed her prize this afternoon.
She said she entered the $30 million powerball draw last Thursday after friends suggested she try her luck.
"I don't usually play the game with all the funny balls but I was persuaded by my friends to buy a ticket," she said.
"I didn't even know how to play - I had to ask my friends how to play the game."
The woman, who bought the ticket at Goulburn in the NSW Southern Highlands, shared the first division prize of $30 million with a winner from Western Australia.
She plans to donate 10 per cent of her winnings to charity.
